I can’t believe how fast time has gone, Jonah joined my family about 14 years ago. He was to be a cage mate to another male Cockatiel, but they never bonded. After a couple years my senior Cockatiel Noah passed away & after some time of playtime bonding outside the cage Issac accepted Jonah & they lived together till Issac passed away many years later.

Jonah does not like living alone, he screamed a lot and paced & even at his annual Vet exam my Veterinarian was concerned, he had lost weight & wasn’t looking as good as he normally did. I took in a white-face Cockatiel as a foster & adopted her, that was Spree. She is not always nice to Jonah, doesn’t hurt him, just wants her needs met & doesn’t care about his as much. He’s a gentle soul, so he seems ok with it, he likes her company & she is pretty. His next annual exam he had gained the weight back, feathers looked better & my Vet asked me what I did. I told her I got him another cage-mate & she said it worked for him. It also helped Spree, she had a better checkup as well. Most birds like having other birds to hang out with, preen each other, play, eat together ect…

Jonah is a handsome Cockatiel & he enjoys wolf whistling & making kissy noises. He doesn’t talk, but I have had a lot of Cockatiels in my life & never had one who spoke words. Since my first Cockatiel in 1986 I have not been without at least one, usually multiple, especially when I fostered birds. I don’t know that I ever will be without a Cockatiel, I have 3 now Jonah, Spree & Lazarus.

Jonah got two small sprees of spray millet for his birthday, he is not really one who plays with toys, so this is a nice treat for him. If you want to treat your birds to honor Jonah’s 15th birthday I’ll add a link here to order some spray millet from Amazon. https://amzn.to/3I96mMd
