Over the years I have heard Brewer’s Yeast is good & not good, so I decided to look into it & see what the Integrative, Natural & Holistic Veterinarians & experts were saying. I found that if it is a high quality Brewers Yeast it has a lot of benefits to a dog or cats health.
Brewers Yeast that is low quality can cause allergic reactions, but it doesn’t appear that high quality products cause many allergic reactions. I always recommend starting slow with new things & watch your pets for any changes that could be an allergic reaction.
It can support a pets immune system & overall health because it is rich in B vitamins, which support brain function, digestion, red blood cell production, & eye health. B Vitamins contain: Niacin, Thiamine, Riboflavin. Brewers Yeast also contains minerals: Iron, zinc, magnesium, Chromium, Potassium, & Selenium. Also is a rich source of amino acids, phosphorus, copper & trace elements.

One way to help know if the Brewers yeast is a higher quality you can look for the National Animal Supplement Council (NASC) seal on the packaging to make sure the product is of a higher quality.
If your pet is a diabetic ask your Veterinarian before feeding Brewers yeast to be sure it doesn’t interact with medications for diabetes. The interaction could lower your pets blood pressure.
Cats have a higher chance of sensitivity to Brewers yeast than dogs, so introduce slowly, to be sure it’s not an issue for your feline.
Some of the experts from my natural books for dogs & cats that said yes high quality Brewers Yeast is safe were: Wendy Volhardt, Kerry Brown DVM, CJ Puotinen, Deborah Mitchell, Martin Goldstein DVM, Shawn Messonnier DVM, Dr Scanlan, Martin Tucker, Tracie Hotchner, Jan Allergretti & Katy Sommers DVM

Glad you were made aware of something new, my goal is to help people be more aware of what’s out there in regards to our beloved pets. I recommend researching for themselves if they have questions or doubts. I don’t know everything & things do change as we learn.
