#92. Gifts for Your Ferret(s)

I fostered ferrets & fell in love with these funny little characters. I “foster failed” & adopted quite a few ferrets. I currently have two dogs that would not be good with them, so I don’t have any currently, but I may again, someday. I have written some other posts about ferrets including posts # 44, #50 & #55, so check these out if you haven’t yet.

Ferrets enjoy things that are shiny & crinkle so these balls can be a fun toy. I always recommend monitoring pets with anything new to be sure they don’t chew & inject it or it breaks & could injure them. Ferrets are known to be little thieves so watch them closely so you can see where they may hide their new treasures.

Ferrets enjoy carrying & batting around toys & hiding them, & sometimes they just lose them. I had a play area with two exercise pens attached together for them to play in. Some people have used a bathroom as a play area with a gate they can’t climb. Safety comes first so monitor your fuzzles whenever they are out of their cages.

Maybe its time to get them some new bedding, there are some adorable patterns out there & having several sets to change a couple times a week really helps with the musty odor ferrets can have if cage bedding isn’t changed regularly. You can find more on this in the other posts I published on ferret care.

Look at all the cute bedding options

I loved having a variety of items for my ferrets & changing it out & I liked the matching items. Of course they don’t have to match, that was just my preference, ferrets don’t care. Some ferrets like certain types of hammocks or beds, but most are that picky as long as they can crawl in & be inside they enjoy it. Give them options & you will soon find their preferences.

Hanging cubes were a favorite of most of my ferrets & I had a couple so could change them out.

Ferrets enjoy tunnels in their cages & ones in their play area.

There are a number of toys that are made for cats & ferrets alike, like I have said previously, monitor them & be sure they are safe before they are allowed to play in their secure area without your constant supervision.

I hope you are enjoying my blog, & it makes you smile. I hope you’re learning some things & getting some ideas to help you be the best pet caregiver you can be. If we are open we can all learn something everyday & become even better pet caregivers. I have heard “I always did it this way” or “my parents did it this way” but pets were often considered just pets back in the day & now more of us look at them as part of the family. Please help me to spread the word about my blog, you can do this several ways, by visiting my blog often, clicking the ‘like’ button at the bottom of the posts, subscribing to my blog (you will just get a notice when I publish a post), comment on posts (say something you learned or plan to try), share my blog post with family & friends on your social media sites or email. My goal is to reach as many pet caregivers/owners as I can & share my experiences. This will help more pets to Thrive & not just survive. You can find a list of all my posts on my home page in the upper left corner under the 3 lines “Show”. You can also find my story there as well. If you have a question or a post topic you would like me to write about you can email me at echoinggreatpetcare@gmail.com

Thank you for reading & hope to hear from you soon. Debbie
